Gate loops are an important part of gate automation, providing a reliable way to detect vehicles and trigger actions such as opening or reversing the gate. These underground loop sensors work by creating a magnetic field that is triggered by the metal mass of a vehicle passing over it. The loop detector then sends a signal to the gate opener to take the desired action. Loops come in different types, such as exit, safety, and center loops, and you can connect up to two of the same type to a single loop detector. It's important to measure the circumference of the loop correctly, typically by deducting 4ft from each side of the driveway, and from the gate, to ensure proper functionality and avoid false triggers.
